Sue Haywood

Sue's interest in mountain biking developed as a student at West Virginia University. Some friends had mountain bikes and she begged her dad to buy her one. He did and she began exploring the trails in the forest around Morgaintown, WV.

She did her first beginner race in 1991, but didn't turn pro until 1998. "I loved the challenge and adventure that mountain biking gave to me. I liked racing, but I honestly didn't know what I was doing when I got my pro license." Well, Sue figured it out, winning her first National Championship in 2001 while on the Trek/VW regional team program. She moved up the ladder to Trek's bigger team and started racing around the country and the world.

She has sinced captured three more national titles as well as two Pan-American championships and one world title in 24 Hour racing. Sue has seen the highs and lows of a professtional career and hopes to share her experience and enthusism with other riders.
